The agreement, signed within the framework of Fitur, includes the ferry trip and special offers of ski passes for the resorts of La Molina, Vall de Núria, Vallter, Espot Esquí, Port Ainé and Boí Taüll.
The shipping company promotes mountain tourism in Catalonia among residents of the Balearic Islands thanks to its fast connections between Barcelona, Mallorca and Menorca.
Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) and Baleària have signed an agreement to take skiers resident in the Balearic Islands to the six ski and mountain resorts managed by FGC: La Molina, Vall de Núria, Vallter, Espot Esquí, Port Ainé and Boí Taüll. The president of Ferrocarrils, Carles Ruiz Novella, and the commercial and revenue director of Baleària, Jaime de la Puente, signed the collaboration agreement today, within the framework of the International Tourism Fair, Fitur, which is being held until Sunday in Madrid.
Through this agreement, the two companies collaborate to offer a joint package that includes the ferry ticket and a three-day ski pass to Ferrocarrils stations at special prices, with the option of a fourth day free. This agreement is already in force for this season.
For the president of FGC, this agreement is part of “Ferrocarrils’ desire to seek alliances to promote the ski and mountain resorts of the Catalan Pyrenees, not only so that people can ski but also to open the door to future visits outside the ski season. Current times force us to deseasonalize and diversify activities and offer recreational, gastronomic, cultural and nature-respecting proposals all year round”. “Having allies like Baleària is another step in this direction”, he added. Ruiz highlighted one of the advantages that Ferrocarrils has: “We have different types of resorts, more family-friendly and more sporty, which allows us to adapt to all types of visitors”.
Baleària's Commercial and Revenue Director, Jaime de la Puente, highlighted that this agreement "highlights Baleària's exclusive commitment to fast and eco-efficient connections between the Balearic Islands and Barcelona all year round, which encourages residents of the Islands to go on holiday to Catalonia outside of the high season".
Ferrocarrils manages six mountain resorts in the Catalan Pyrenees that offer a total of 180 ski slopes, 189 km of skiable terrain and 54 ski lifts. FGC has almost 50,000 accommodation spaces near the resorts, both its own and those in its area of influence, and a wide range of leisure and gastronomic activities. More information here.
Baleària promotes mountain tourism in Catalonia during the winter thanks to the fast connections it makes all year round between Barcelona, Mallorca and Menorca, in addition to the ferry routes with Ibiza. Baleària has three daily ferry connections from the Islands to the Catalan capital and one fast one with the new fast ferry powered by natural gas, which connects Barcelona, Alcúdia and Ciutadella in a three and a half hour crossing throughout the year. The ship has a capacity for 1,200 people and 425 vehicles, which allows for a lively weekend getaway even outside the high season.
